Fostering in Swansea

If you have been a carer or are interested in care, you can find out at the information event organised in support of Foster Care Fortnight. At various information booths you can talk to the Founding Team of Foster Swansea and get the chance to have a free space and to offer children and young people a loving home. Foster Swansea is currently looking for people from all walks of life who are interested in becoming a carer, particularly those who can provide a home for a child or young person in need of a safe and supportive environment, such as a parent or sibling. Carers play a vital role in changing the lives of young people in the care system, but there are still many myths surrounding care. There will be a series of road shows throughout the year, with Foster Care Fortnight taking place from 27 May. There are a few prerequisites to become a carer, but mainly you have to be over 21 years old and have an additional bedroom. Sources: 1, 6

You can stay in a house that you own or rent privately from your community, or you can maintain in your own home. Claire Sandra, from Swansea, who was recently recognised as a carer by Foster Swansea, said: ‘I feel completely supported by them and have complete confidence in them.
